From the Pastor's Pen……

Andrew Steffen Putman, Natali Morgann Bollinger, Nicole Ryleigh Bollinger, Landon Tyler Ridinger, and Sarah Madeline LeBrun were all baptized here at Trinity Lutheran Church recently.  Since this recent string of baptisms, many people have been asking questions about the Sacrament of Holy Baptism.

For Lutherans we see Baptism as, “the door of life to the kingdom of God.” Baptism is the cleansing with water through the power of the living word of God. When we are baptized we are taken as new members of the body of Christ and we become a part of the community of faith.  Through the life-giving Holy Spirit in Baptism, we are adopted as God’s own children.  Our sin is washed away, and we are made clean in the Baptismal waters and receive forgiveness, life, and salvation.  Baptism is therefore nothing less than a rebirth, a passage from death to life.

One of the Early Church Fathers, Tertullian, said Christians, “are made, not born.”  So Baptism is the beginning of a Spiritual Journey, a lifelong struggle of continual renewal. So we as the body of Christ are called through our Baptism into Christ to “make disciples.” Thereby we make obedient followers of Christ, who seek constantly to learn the will of God and then seek to do it in the lives of others. This life of constant renewal is kept alive weekly through the sacrament of Holy Communion in which the community of faith gathers weekly to renew its identity and connection to Christ.

Another part of this Spiritual Journey is making connections with others.  Our every member visits have been progressing.  We have been learning greatly about everyone here at Trinity.  These visits have offered us insight into the past, present, and future vision of Trinity.  So when you hear from the Church office, please call back so we can get you on the schedule.

Your pastors will be taking their vacation from June 15th -30th.  This will allow us time to reconnect with our family members and to refresh ourselves as we plan for exciting, upcoming programs in the fall.  During this time, two supply Pastors will cover the Sundays we are missing and another will cover during the week in case of emergencies. Watch the Sunday bulletin for more information.

                        Blessings In Christ,

                                                                                    Pastor Rachel Semovoski

                                                                                                                Pastor Josh Semovoski

PARISH HEALTH CORNER

JUNE IS HOME SAFETY MONTH….

The most common causes of accidents in the home are falls, fires, burns, and poisonings.  This summer, take some simple steps to create a safer home environment.

  • Post the National Poison Center # to every phone in your home: 1-800-222-1222. Also have your doctor and hospital numbers by your phone.
  • Make steps safer with bright lights, handrails, and baby gates as needed.
  • Have night lights on in hallways & bathrooms so you do not fall going to the bathroom at night.
  • Make sure smoke alarms are working- check your batteries once a month and hold fire drills with your family.
  • Practice water safety by fencing in pools or spas, staying within an arm’s length of children around any kind of water.
  • Keep your hot water at or below 120 degrees Fahrenheit to avoid burns.
  • Have fire extinguishers on all levels of floors including kitchen and garage.
  • Do not leave children alone when they take a bath- they can drown in just a few inches of  water
  • Place all lawn equipment and chemicals in a locked shed or storage room. This includes paint, paint thinners, gasoline and bug repellants.
  • Do not leave children alone around any type of outside cooking grill.
  • Make sure your car keys are kept out of reach so a child does not lock themselves in the car or trunk.
  • Keep cigarette lighters, and matches out of a child’s reach.
  • When cooking make sure pot handles are turned to the back of the stove or use back burners.
  • Unplug all counter top appliances, such as toaster, tea & coffee makers after using them.

June News Continued!

We Congratulate Our Graduates:

Aylssa Peterson, Alex Hoffman, Trenton Rock, Justin Etzler, Brady Perry,

Patrick Merson, Allen Rasche, Andy Saunders, Lucas Bowman!

Please be sure to stop by their 1st floor bulletin board, across from the TCLP room,        to see where they're headed next!  A special thanks to the Christian Ed board,                       for their help, in the celebration.

Are you following God?

As you know, I'll be headed to seminary, this coming fall.  My going to school is how God is leading me, at this time, but how is the Spirit leading you?  Maybe you've wondered how you could be involved in the life of our congregation.  Following God,    by being a part of and helping, at Trinity, is just as godly as going to school.  If you have a lot of time, you wish to share, or just want to be involved in one project, a year, such as helping with Rally Day or the All Saints Party, there's a place for you!

Be sure to check with Pr. Josh, Pr. Rachel, myself or any of the other several dozen people that you see "on the move", at Trinity - they'll help you find where you fit!
