General Fair Rules and Regulations

  1. All exhibitors must secure an exhibitor's number for a fee of $2.00. This fee will allow unlimited exhibits, except where limited by space or department regulations. This fee will be waived if early pre-entry of exhibits is used. Check for pre-entry information on the web site. Department entry fees are extra, if applicable.

  2. There is no entry fee for exhibits, except livestock, and those departments as indicated.

  3. Refer to each department for exhibit entry times. Generally, all exhibits may be entered on Sunday, August 19, 2012, between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. and on Monday, August 20, 2012, between 4:00 p.m. and 8 p.m.

  4. The Fair Board reserves the right to accept, limit or reject all entries. All entries will be subject to space available in each department.

  5. Only livestock may be removed from the grounds on Saturday night after 10:00 p.m. ALL other exhibits may be removed on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. No prize money will be awarded for exhibits removed in violation of this rule. Unclaimed prize ribbons will not be mailed.

  6. All protests regarding the judging must be made in writing and must plainly state the cause of the complaint or appeal. Such protests must be filed at the fair office within 24 hours of the occurrence. Three members of the South Mountain Fair Association Board of Directors, in consultation with the judge, will investigate the complaint and make a decision. Their decision will be final.

  7. If there is only one entry in a class, the South Mountain Fair Association reserves the right not to award a first place.

  8. The South Mountain Fair Association will do everything possible to protect the commercial and competitive exhibits, and is not responsible for theft, fire, damage, injury or loss in any manner.

  9. The South Mountain Fair Association reserves the right to increase or decrease all premiums based upon the amount of reimbursement from the PA Agricultural Fair Program. Rosettes have no monetary value.

  10. Premium checks for some departments will be available at the Pit Beef pavilion on Sunday during exhibit pickup. Any remaining checks will be mailed no later than October 31. Checks must be cashed promptly and within 60 days of being issued. No checks will be reissued after Dec. 31.

  11. Judging, in most departments, will begin on Tuesday, August 21, at 8:00 a.m. The Main Exhibit Building will be closed to the public at this time. Consult the daily schedule of activities for the judging schedule of livestock.

  12. No pets are permitted on the fairgrounds except those assisting visually impaired persons.

  13. No alcoholic beverages permitted on the South Mountain Fairgrounds.
