Cooking Camps
Cooking with Friends (grades 1-4)
June 11-15 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
Explore creative ways to make delicious
smoothies and favorite snacks like cupcakes,
pizza, burgers, and ice cream sandwiches. You’ll
learn math, science, reading, and creativity—as
well as healthy eating habits—as you learn to
cook your favorite foods!

Bravo Baking! (grades 6-8)
June 18-22 1-4 p.m.
Explore the world of baked treats! Spend a day
making breakfast favorites like pancakes,
muffins, and scones. Conquer the world of yeast
baking as you twist up your own soft pretzels.
Master different mixing techniques as you whip
up a variety of delicious cookies. Even try out
some “no-bake” recipes. We’ll wrap up the week
with a friendly—and delicious—baking contest
judged by Arts Council judges!

Edible Art (grades 3-6)

Create art you can eat! You’ll work with candy
clay, fondant, edible paper, and other fun foods
as you learn how to prepare and present these
artistic edibles in a safe and clean
environment.

Now You’re Cooking! (ages 10-14)

You’ll definitely want to come hungry to this
camp, so skip breakfast! You’ll learn to make a
complete meal each day, and enjoy eating the
results! But don’t worry parents—we have fun,
but always teach safety and checking with an
adult.

Young Chefs in the Kitchen (grades 4-6)
August 6-10 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
Sharpen your culinary skills as you learn how to
prepare your favorite foods. Make soft pretzels,
chicken quesadillas, no-bake cookies, orange
Julius, and more—you’ll get to choose a favorite
food to prepare! Our focus is on nutritional,
healthful recipes that are fun and easy!

Travel to a different location each day using
your World Traveler passport! Take a trip to the
Eiffel Tower, the Pyramids and more, while
learning about each country’s cultures and
unique artwork!

Performance Camps
Art in Motion Dance Workshop (ages 6-adult)
Session 1: July 9-12 and July 16-19
4-6 p.m. for Junior-level dancers;
6-9 p.m. for
Teen- and Senior-level dancers
These two-week dance workshops are great for all
levels of interest, from a fun
recreational-style dance program to a
pre-professional dance intensive! You’ll learn
jazz, lyrical, and hip-hop dance styles,
focusing on proper technique and movement.
Highlighting each class: a high-energy dance
combination incorporating styles you’ve seen on
the hit TV show “So You Think You Can Dance.”
You’ll also learn classical ballet technique
with a focus on flexibility, body placement, and
graceful movement. Please note: Auditions to
determine skill-level placement will be

Home-Grown Drama: Firefly Madness! (grades
4-6)

Summer nights bring fireflies, everyone favorite
summer bug—and the state bug of Pennsylvania!
Work as a team to create your own play this
summer based on an original interactive tale,
Too Much Light, which explains how fireflies
came to be! You’ll spend the week learning
improvisation, drama games, and poetry alive!
We’ll put on a short performance at the end of
the week.

Professor Kerrigan’s School of Magic (ages
6-9)

Always wondered what it would be like to be a
real magician? Here’s your chance to learn
sleight-of-hand tricks and illusions using the
props professional magicians use. Great for
beginners and those who want to move beyond the
basics. You’ll learn the skills to do close-up
and parlor magic—then perform for friends and
family at the end of the week!

Gettysburg Children’s Choir Camp (grades 3-9)

Come achieve a new level of artistic excellence

an exciting and diverse choral repertoire. No

Learn to Play Guitar (ages 8-16)

Learn guitar technique and rhythm as you work on
popular, rock, and contemporary music. We’ll
have a band concert on the last day. Great for

are welcome—if you’re a drummer, keyboardist,
singer, or bass guitarist, come join the band!

Visual Arts Camps
Art-a-Palooza: A Fine Arts Exploratorium (ages
7-11)
June 11-15 1-4 p.m.
Get a taste of the fine arts as you explore
different types of art, including painting,
drawing, sculpting, and printing. You’ll work
with clay, pencil, pen, acrylics, and
watercolors as you learn about color and how art
enhances everyday life.

Dirty Hands Pottery Camp

Explore the world of sea turtles, mermaids, and
mer-men! You’ll use your imagination and some
research to inspire projects for a week spent
under the sea! You’ll work in a variety of media
and learn great new techniques and skills as you
complete your projects.

Explore the continent of Africa as you create
sculptures of the plants and animals that live
there. You’ll make fun and functional art out of
many different sculptural materials—stoneware,

Meet the Modern Masters (grades K-3)
July 30-August 3 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
Meet five brilliant 20th-century artists on this
summer adventure! Each day you’ll learn about a
new modern master—Miro, Pollock, O'Keeffe,
Matisse, and Warhol. You’ll get creative with
his or her style as you create your own personal
masterpieces in a variety of media, including
printmaking, drawing, action painting,
watercolor, and cut-out collage!

Exploring the Third Dimension (grades 1-3)
July 30-August 3 1-4 p.m.
Explore the world of 3-D art as you combine
found objects with oil pastels, acrylic paints,
paper, markers, and other fun materials to
create collages, music makers, kaleidoscopes,
box sculptures, and more!

Drawing the Future: Beyond the Earth to the Moon
(ages 8-10)
August 13-17 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
Drawing the Future:
Beyond the Earth to the MoonThis course provides
an exciting opportunity for young artists to
develop drawing and painting skills while
learning about space science. The participants
will become “space architects,” using direct
observation and their own vivid imaginations to
design a working space station on the moon’s
surface.
They will design,
sketch, and then paint their designs onto a
large canvas. They will also be interviewed to
discuss the thoughts behind their designs. The
work will appear at ACAC in October along with
Wendy Allen’s art exhibit, “The Misadventures
of Annie and Maud: Annie Smooths the Moon.”
