Town Manager's Report
September 2005

Streets:

  • Staff installed Fallen Firefighters signs and banners
  • Staff repaired a number of street lights
  • Staff has been repairing some speed bumps
  • Staff has installed new stop signs on East North Avenue

Water:

  • Staff has been maintaining the flow from Rainbow Lake at about 120 gpm, which has reduced the draw on the wells
  • Staff has again flushed the raw water line from Rainbow Lake to the water treatment plant
  • Staff found and repaired two water leaks - one on the Provincial House Property and one on North Seton Avenue
  • The pump in Well #5 went down this month, but has now been replaced and is back on line.  Also, staff is getting the required testing of Well #4 started so it can be brought on line very soon
  • Water production and consumption.  We produced and purchased an average of 408,122 gpd.  We consumed an average of 372,840293 gpd.
    • The difference is "Backwash Water" ...(8.6%).   We purchased 634,800 gals. of water from MSM this month.
    • 50.3% of this water came from wells 
    • 06.0% of this water came from Mt. St. Mary's
    • 43.7% of this water came from Rainbow Lake 

Wastewater:

  • We didn't have any raw sewerage spills in the month of Septemer
  • Mason Dixon Farms has been irrigating all month - by draw from the Town's release reservoir
  • The "overland flow" treatment system is in use and working well and the irrigation system is running 
  • We received about 0.3 inches of precipitation this month
  • Wastewater Treatment:
    • We treat an average of 310,000 (consumed 372,840 gpd) which means that 0% of the wastewater treated this month was "wild water"
    • We did not exceed the plant's design capacity on 0 days in the month of September

Trash:

  • Trash pickup days will remain Monday & Thursday for the month of October

Parks:

  • Staff is performing standard maintenance - on all playground equipment, ballfields  and mowing and trimming

Meetings Attended:

  • Proposed cell tower construction
  • Brookfield pressure reduction valve
  • On new Bollinger Homes facility
  • On regional growth and its impact
  • On the new Emmitsburg Glass facility
  • Grant funding for Sewer Plant emissions upgrade
  • Bid opening for the resurfacing of West DePaul Street
