- Corporate limits include 659 acres (1.1 sq. miles) and a
population of approximately 2400.
Parking Meter hours are 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Mon. -
Thurs. and 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM Friday and Saturday
Town Meetings are held in the Town Office on the first
and third Monday of the month at 7:30 pm.
Remodeling or altering the use of an existing structure
within Town limits requires a zoning permit from the Town's
Zoning Department. Zoning permits are required for signs as
well. An application is necessary, and may be reviewed by the
Planning Commission, which meets at the Town Office on
the last Monday of the month at 7:30 PM
Emmitsburg's Community Park, 59.14 acres located along
Lincoln and Jamison Avenues, offers both men's and women's
softball fields, Babe Ruth playing field and a swimming
complex.
Emmitsburg's Memorial Park, 5.5 acres located along
Chesapeake and Potomac Avenues, offers a lighted picnic
pavilion, grills, playground, baseball and Little League field
and restroom facilities.
There is a $25 refundable
clean-up fee for the rental of the pavilions at Memorial and
Community Parks, and a $100 refundable clean-up fee for the
restrooms. There is a $30 fee for use of the gymnasium at the
Community Center. (No fee for youth groups at the gym.)
Garbage removal is done on
Mondays with curbside recycling pick-up every other Friday (see Curbside Recycling for dates)
Sorry, no curb side recycling is offered in the Pembrook or
Brookfield subdivisions.
Hunting and fishing are allowed at the
Town's watershed area with a permit issued by the Town. To
obtain a permit, bring your hunting or fishing license to the
Town Office. Only Emmitsburg residents are authorized to hunt,
you must have proof of residency to obtain a hunting license.
There is no charge for the permit.
