No market animal may be dual entered as a breeding animal for any species.
All animals must have an official ear tag and
official legible breed registration tattoo.
No beef cattle showing clinical signs of contagious
disease, including active ringworm, warts, lice and mange, will be admitted to any show.
Interstate animals exhibited at a Pennsylvania
show or fair must meet Pennsylvania requirements, and must be accompanied by the Interstate
Health Certificate to be eligible for entry. Must be tested for tuberculosis and bruellosis
after April 1.
Vaccination Requirement
All cattle must be accompanied by a health
certificate, signed by an accredited veterinarian, which includes a statement that the animal(s)
identified have been immunized against IBR, P13, and BVD.
A Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) issued within 30 days
prior to the opening date of the Fair is required. A current rabies vaccination administered by a licensed
veterinarian is required for animals 3 months of age or older. The rabies information may be included on the CVI or
a rabies vaccination certificate is acceptable.
Animals that have never been vaccinated against
BVD or have not been vaccinated against BVD during the previous 12 months, must receive one dose
of modified live virus vaccine given at least 15 days and not more than 180 days before the show, or
two doses of killed vaccine, two to four weeks apart, with the last dose given at least 15 days and
not more than 180 days before the show.
Animals that have been vaccinated against BVD within
the previous 12 months, must receive at least a single injection of modified live virus or killed
vaccine given not less than 15 days and not more than 180 days before the show.
Hyperimmune serum may not be used as a substitute
for the above vaccination requirement.
No animals will be admitted to the show or fair
unless these requirements have been met.
The date of the last live virus vaccination,
or the dates of the last two killed virus vaccinations must be recorded on the Health Certificate.
General Rules
When on exhibit in the ring, each animal must be
under halter and in charge of owner or owner's representative.
When on exhibit in the ring, junior exhibitors showing
should have assistance available.
No breed exhibits are to be set up in barns. If
interested in such an exhibit, consult with the department chairperson for alternative exhibit location.
No blocking chutes are permitted inside the beef barn.

page on the web site at www.southmountainfair.com and must be returned to the Dept. 3 chairperson
by August 1.
