Role: God is present in the Sacred Readings and through this ministry
of communication the Lector gives voice to God's Word.Major Responsibilities:
- Strive to convey the dignity and sacredness of the Scriptures
- Prepare/study readings you will proclaim
- Participate in two liturgy committee meetings per year for planning and faith development
Formation: Initial and ongoing formation is provided and a Lector's workbook which included
readings, notes and pronunciations.
Personal Qualities Needed: Deep belief in Jesus and the Catholic tradition and desire to share that
belief with others. A willingness to study, reflect and proclaim the scriptures. Confidence in public speaking.
Time Commitment: At least ½ hour preparation and arrive 10-15 minutes before scheduled Masses.
