Guided Tours: Our Civil War walking tour will show you the Civil War sites of Emmitsburg or Monterey Pass. I will share with you pictures from the time period closely representing what area looked like during the time of Civil War. The walking tour of Monterey will cover the heart of the battlefield. Our walking tour fee is $20.00 per-person with kids 10 years of age and under free of charge. This tour is approximately one hour long.

We do offer a complete two and a half hour long tour that includes the heart of the Monterey Pass battlefield as well as Smithsburg and Leitersburg. The fee for this tour is $40.00. All fees go back into our efforts of historical preservation and research projects. The tours are a reserve basis only. If you plan a trip to the Gettysburg area and would like to tour, please feel free to contacts us!

As a living historians we understand the importance of interpretation.  Without interpretation you would not be able to understand the events of a certain time period.  That is why interpretation programs are very important. Our interpretational programs and guided tours provide our spectators with a wealth of knowledge regarding several different topics about the area, in a variety of time periods.  We are continually creating new programs to educate the public about different aspects of the Civil War and how they relate to our community. Our interpretational programs are based upon Maryland State Park guidelines and uniform standards. Our uniforms are from S&S Sutler, Charlie Childs, CJ Daley and Ben Tart. While the other uniforms are made by the MPBA based upon period correct patterns.

The MPBA headquarters is not handicap accessible and we have no standard set of hours as I too work on weekends at the South Mountain State Battlefield in Boonsboro, Maryland. If you see the Pennsylvania Civil War Trails banner out on our front porch that means we are open. On street parking is available on King Street or by the M&T Bank near the square of Waynesboro. For information, please feel free to write to us or email us at montereyinfo@emmitsburg.net
