On December 5, 2004,
Incarnation United Church of Christ was presented
with a plaque from the
Emmitsburg
Council of Churches for raising the most money
for the Emmitsburg CROP WALK in 2004. Bill Wivell,
president of the Emmitsburg Council of Churches,
and Phyllis Kelly, chairman for the local CROP
WALK, presented the award to the congregation at
Incarnation for collecting $2,228.30 for the walk.
A total of $5,170.76 was
raised by the seven local churches who participate
in the Emmitsburg CROP WALK with 55 walkers from
all churches. The CROP WALK alleviates hunger
throughout the world, and especially in
Emmitsburg, where 25% of the money raised stays
with the local food bank whose director is Phyllis
Kelly.
The walk took place an a
beautiful Sunday, October 17, starting from the
park in Emmitsburg with a send-off prayer by Rev.
Bill Warehime of
Tom's Creek
United Methodist Church. Thanks to all the
walkers from Incarnation and all those who
supported them with their donations.
