Meet John A. Miller

John A. Miller

John Miller was raised in the small town of Ladiesburg, Maryland. After marrying his wife Alicia, they moved to the charming town of Emmitsburg in April of 1997 where their first son, Marshall was born. In 2001, John's family moved to the small town of Fountain Dale, Pennsylvania, where their second child Dalton was born. Today, John and his family currently reside in Waynesboro, Pa.

John serves as the Civil War Historian for the Emmitsburg Historical Society and the Monterey Pass Battlefield Association. Some of his responsibilities is working with other community organizations acting as a historical advisor or promoting Civil War history by holding lectures.

He has volunteered many hours of his time at the Monocacy National Battlefield and other historical sites in Maryland and Pennsylvania. John's goal is to one day have a career working for the National Park Service or State Park Service contributing his knowledge of the Emmitsburg and Monterey area. He is a natural born writer and has written many articles pertaining to Emmitsburg's Civil War heritage. John currently has a monthly column called the "Civil War Crossroads" in the Catoctin Banner.

John also commands a Civil War re-enacting company called Lucas' South Carolina Battalion. With over 10 years of experience, John has served on many staffs and currently serves as Chief of Staff for 3rd Regiment PACS.  If your interested and want to become a re-enactor, please contact john@emmitsburg.net.
