Hello everyone,

The month of March is usually slow goin' for me since it's a long month. As a kid, March had the potential of causing cabin fever. This year it seemed to go by at hyper-speed. There were several activities in March that were lots of fun. One of note was the Thurmont Business Expo on March 28. Many people attended to see what surprises Thurmont area businesses had for them. I was very pleased by the numbers of supporting comments, ideas, and suggestions that were expressed at The Catoctin Banner display booth.

I thank George Wireman and Carie Stafford. They staffed the Banner booth and sought feedback from you, and you gave it. We really appreciate it! Our E+ Copy Center booth was staffed by Karen Cucina who monitored our t-shirt give-away entries as she answered your questions about products and services. The entry box was full! See who won our give-away in the E+ ad on the back page.

Read more about the Expo on page ???. Events like this one are socially and economically what a town is all about. Good job to the Thurmont EDC volunteers for their good planning and organizing of the event.

As we cruised into the month of April, did you take a moment to notice all of the bells ringing at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday April 5? I took a break from doing Banner stuff and stood on the front porch of my house for five minutes. We live just outside of Thurmont town limits. I strained to hear above a neighbor's lawn mower and the loud cars passing by on the road near our house. I strained to hear above the wind. And…

I thought I heard a bell ringing. But since I honestly couldn't be sure, I checked the time. I went back out to the porch and strained to hear again. I couldn't be sure, so I went back in the house, found a bell and rang it myself!

The bells ringing (not my bell but I like to think my bell helped) was the start of the Frederick County Bell and History Days event that took place at various locations throughout Frederick County and several locations in our area as well. Read about this two-day event on page ?????.

The reception for our new column, "What's It Worth" was very good. Many people expressed their interest in having different items and heirlooms appraised. Feel free to utilize this column to see if your stuff, I mean your precious treasures, can be featured in an upcoming issue.

Thanks for reading, and as always, be sure to patronize the businesses who reach out to you through The Catoctin Banner.

Enjoy!

-deb

Corrections:

In the March issue, the phone number for Bomberger's Pet Sitting was printed incorrectly. The correct number is 301-667-5323.
