Aquatic Gardening Business Relocates to Thurmont

Pondscapes, now in its sixth year of business, recently relocated to Thurmont. Owners Paul and Stacie Zelenka are excited to be part of the local business community and have joined the Thurmont Economic Development Committee. “There is a lot for a small business owner in Thurmont,” said Stacie. Plus, they enjoy the small town atmosphere Thurmont offers.

Paul and Stacie are experts in the field of aquatic plants and animals with 17 years of combined experience. After working at Lilypons Water Gardens for many years, the couple decided to branch out and start an aquatic garden construction company. Paul has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and was formerly responsible for plant production and fish care while Stacie worked in water garden display and care at Lilypons.

Pondscapes is a full-service company offering everything from pond installation, construction and start-up to pond maintenance, upgrades and repair.

Pondscapes can design and install a formal water garden or can create a natural-looking water garden with waterfalls and streams. “We provide well thought out designs and superior products to ensure that our clients have low maintenance, enjoyable and most importantly beautiful ponds. The healthy vibrant fish and lush colorful plants will bring you years of enjoyment with little effort,” said Stacie.

Local Firm Expands To Offer Air & Water Purification Line

A Closer Look, Inc. Home Inspection Service of Emmitsburg recently became a licensed dealer for EcoQuest International.

EcoQuest offers a full line of products that for air and water purification systems for residential, commercial and portable use.

Fresh Air by EcoQuest uses Radiant Catalytic Ionization (RCI) technology originally developed in cooperation with NASA to clean the air in spacecraft by removing airborne pathogens.

The Living Water purifier combines three technologies – ozonation, ultraviolet light exposure and photo-oxidation, and high-density activated carbon block filtration. The process eliminates harmful bacteria, lead, solvents, chlorine and other chemicals from household water.

Both types of purifier have received the stamp of approval from North America’s largest do-it-yourself organization, The Handyman Club of America. According to EcoQuest, the club’s test panel, made up of experienced builders and contractors, proved that the units surpassed their expectations for 20 test parameters, including performance, construction, quality, design, ease of use, safety and innovative features.

The Fresh Air DuctwoRx is the latest breakthrough in EcoQuest’s highly advanced technology systems. Fresh Air DuctwoRx utilizes your HVAC fan to deliver safe oxidizers and super-oxide ions throughout your home, improving the quality of air passing through your HVAC system. The Fresh Air DuctwoRx uses EcoQuest’s exclusive RCI Technology.

DuctwoRx takes advantage of the germicidal and ionizing properties of UV and combines them with the photo-catalytic reactions of specific rare and noble metals to create Radiant Catalytic Ionization (RCI).

“From the basement to the attic, even if you’ve already got a Fresh Air by EcoQuest or Fresh Air Spectrum UVX, each room will be fresher and every air purifier more effective,” said Kimberly Gore, owner of A Closer Look, Inc.

To arrange for an in-home demonstration of these and many other EcoQuest International products, call Kimberly Gore and Elizabeth Myers of A Closer Look at 301-447-2288.
