Two $1,500 scholarships are available to graduating high school senior students who are related to Thurmont High School Alumni. Scholarship applications are
available at Catoctin High School or can be obtained by contacting, Clinton Rhodes at 301-271-7994. All completed Information must be received by May 14th, 2007.
Emmitsburg Elementary School PTA Offers $300 Scholarship
The Emmitsburg Elementary School PTA is offering one scholarship for $300 to a graduating Catoctin High School senior. To be eligible, the student must have
attended Emmitsburg Elementary School a minimum of one-full year in grades K through 5 and have received an overall 2.85 G.P.A. for four years of high school (verified by the
school’s guidance office). Applicants must also include a letter of recommendation from either a high school or community related person (i.e. teacher, counselor, principal,
employer, clergy, activity coach); must show acceptance by any accredited two or four year college or technical school; and must include a brief, one page, essay on how your
experiences at Emmitsburg Elementary School prepared you for your future. Completed applications with required supplements should be mailed to: Scholarship Committee, Emmitsburg
Elementary School PTA, 300 South Seton Avenue, Emmitsburg, MD 21727. Applications must be received on or before March 31, 2007. The scholarship recipient will be announced at an
awards ceremony.
The scholarship award must be used in the first year after graduating from high school and is non-renewable. Funds will be disbursed upon receipt of a
certificate of full-time student enrollment, sent to Emmitsburg Elementary School PTA by the registrar’s office of the educational institution he or she chooses to attend.
Emmitsburg Lions Club Offers Three $1,000 Scholarships
The Emmitsburg Lions Club is offering three $1,000 scholarships for high school seniors residing in its
service district (21727 zip code).
Each $1000 scholarship is to be used by its recipient for their pursuit of college or other post high school education.

The Emmitsburg Lion’s Scholarship Committee will select three recipients (one for each scholarship) or fewer, based upon the number of applicants and quality
of the application essay. The decision of the committee is final. All scholarship winners will be announced at their high school award assemblies and recognized for their merit at
the Emmitsburg Lion’s Club Community Day, June 30, 2007.
Recipients of the Morningstar and Gauss scholarships will receive their monetary awards during the Community Day program. The Prongas scholarship recipient
will be recognized at Community Day and receive his or her monetary award at a date and time determined by the Community Foundation of Frederick
County.
