Ingrid Mezo
Ingrid Mezo has joined The Catoctin Banner as a freelance writer and reporter to cover local government and business news for Thurmont and Emmitsburg. Ingrid
is a talented writer and a very familiar face around northern Frederick County, as she was formerly a reporter for the Thurmont/Walkersville edition of The Gazette, a Washington Post
newspaper. Ingrid holds from American University in Washington, DC, a B.A. in Communication and a B.A. in Literature. She is a member of the Golden Key International Honors Society,
the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society and the National Honors Society. She is fluent in German and knowledgeable in French and Hungarian. She is
proficient in various computer applications, including MS Suite, Dreamweaver, Quark XPress, Paradox and Photoshop. She has held numerous writing and editing positions, including also
writing for The Potomac Almanac, editing and managing The Red Jacket Literary Journal, and writing for United Press International’s coverage of the 2004 Presidential election for
which she interviewed private and government officials. In her time away from writing, Ingrid works as a veterinary technician at the Frederick Emergency Animal Hospital where she
has cared for small animals for more than 10 years, drawing on her previous experience assisting with a USDA livestock experiment in Beltsville, MD.
