Registration for kindergarten and pre-kindergarten is now underway at area elementary schools for the upcoming 2006-2007 school year. To enter kindergarten in fall 2006, a child must observe his or her fifth birthday on or before September 1, 2006.

Full-day kindergarten is offered at all Catoctin feeder elementary schools: Emmitsburg, Lewistown, Sabillasville, and Thurmont Primary.

To enter pre-kindergarten in fall 2006, a child must observe his or her fourth birthday on or before September 1, 2006. FCPS offers pre-kindergarten classes locally at Emmitsburg and Thurmont Primary schools. Students are selected based on criteria such as eligibility for free or reduced-price meals or factors that increase a child’s risk of not being successful in school.

Those registering a child will need the child’s immunization record, proof of date of birth and proof of residency.

Lewistown Elementary will host a Kindergarten Registration and Open House on March 28, 2006, 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.
