Lions Club Scholarship
The Thurmont Lions Club has a long history of enabling local students to attend college through its scholarship program. Each year it awards three $1,000 scholarships to graduating Catoctin High School seniors.
The Lions Club scholarship program is supported by the annual sale of the Lions Community Birthday Calendar. The community support of the calendar has assisted numerous students in their pursuit of higher education. This program is one of many ways in which the Club provides
community support.
The scholarship requires students to complete an application and an outline of career objectives, school activities, leadership roles, awards, work experience and community involvement activities. Reference letters and school transcripts are also required. Scholarship applications
are available through the Catoctin High School guidance office.
The winning scholarship recipients will be invited to a special awards recognition dinner hosted by the Lions Club in May. For more information on the Lions Club’s Community Birthday Calendar, contact chairman Lion Mike Irons at 301-271-7012 or any Thurmont Lions Club member.

On December 29, 2005, Mandi had 10 inches of her hair cut at Curley Sue’s in Emmitsburg. “When I would go for a haircut and see all the hair lying on the floor, I knew it shouldn’t go into a trashcan,” said Mandi.
Mandi says she found out about Locks of Love from her previous hairdresser. “I want to donate my hair as many times as possible,” said Mandi. This is the second time Mandi has donated her hair to Locks of Love.
