Renowned Tenor Richard Troxell To Sing in Celebration of Show’s 50th Anniversary

Thurmont native Richard Troxell will come home to help the community celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Emmitsburg and Thurmont Community Show.

Richard Troxell’s beautiful lyric tenor voice has been thrilling audiences where he has sung on stages across the country and around the world. His vocal artistry and powerful stage presence have set him apart from the others, and his ability to connect with audiences earns him "bravos" wherever he appears.

In the critically acclaimed movie Madame Butterfly presented by Martin Scorsese, Richard Troxell’s portrayal of Lieutenant B.F. Pinkerton, received high praise from both film and music critics alike following the premiere in Paris in 1995 and later in the U.S. in 1996.

Richard’s latest engagements took him to Montpellier, France to reprise his role as Christian in a well-received production of Cyrano de Bergerac (available on DVD) for the Opéra National de Montpellier. Other notable performances in 2006 included his now signature role of Pinkerton for the Los Angeles Opera and a role début as Macduff in Macbeth for the Portland Opera.

In 2003-2004, Mr. Troxell made his Carnegie Hall début as soloist in Bach’s Magnificat. He followed that singing the title role in Candide for Opera Pacific, Alfredo in La Traviata for San Diego Opera, and two performances with the Philadelphia Orchestra as tenor soloist in The Seven Deadly Sins and Carmina Burana.

These are just a few of the notable accomplishments of this acclaimed singer.

Richard Troxell is from Thurmont, Maryland where he started singing at the age of four along with his parents, Pat Troxell and the late Richard Troxell of Thurmont, belting out Broadway tunes at Lions Club benefits and singing hymns in the church choir. He received his operatic training at the Academy of Vocal Arts (AVA) in Philadelphia, PA. He currently resides in the countryside of Chester County, PA with his wife dancer/choreographer Lisa Lovelace and their two sons.
