Thurmont native Richard Troxell will
come home to help the community celebrate the 50th anniversary
of the Emmitsburg and Thurmont Community Show.
Richard Troxell’s beautiful lyric
tenor voice has been thrilling audiences where he has sung on
stages across the country and around the world. His vocal
artistry and powerful stage presence have set him apart from
the others, and his ability to connect with audiences earns
him "bravos" wherever he appears.
In the critically acclaimed movie
Madame Butterfly presented by Martin Scorsese, Richard
Troxell’s portrayal of Lieutenant B.F. Pinkerton, received
high praise from both film and music critics alike following
the premiere in Paris in 1995 and later in the U.S. in 1996.
Richard’s latest engagements took him
to Montpellier, France to reprise his role as Christian in a
well-received production of Cyrano de Bergerac (available on
DVD) for the Opéra
National de Montpellier. Other notable performances in 2006
included his now signature role of Pinkerton for the Los
Angeles Opera and a role début
as Macduff in Macbeth for the Portland Opera.
In 2003-2004, Mr. Troxell made his
Carnegie Hall début
as soloist in Bach’s Magnificat. He followed that singing the
title role in Candide for Opera Pacific, Alfredo in La
Traviata for San Diego Opera, and two performances with the
Philadelphia Orchestra as tenor soloist in The Seven Deadly
Sins and Carmina Burana.

accomplishments of this acclaimed singer.
Richard Troxell is from Thurmont,
Maryland where he started singing at the age of four along
with his parents, Pat Troxell and the late Richard Troxell of
Thurmont, belting out Broadway tunes at Lions Club benefits
and singing hymns in the church choir. He received his
operatic training at the Academy of Vocal Arts (AVA) in
Philadelphia, PA. He currently resides in the countryside of
Chester County, PA with his wife dancer/choreographer Lisa
Lovelace and their two sons.
