Thanks for Support

Cpl. Adam Kisielewski, of Thurmont, nearly gave his life for his country. Cpl. Kisielewski, 21, lost his right leg below the knee and his left arm at the shoulder after a bomb went off in an abandoned school he was inspecting on August 21 in Iraq. This is an ultimate sacrifice to give for your country, and we at Trinity United Church of Christ in Thurmont wanted in some small way to be of help to Adam and his wife, Carrie.

On Saturday morning, November 5th, with the support of the Thurmont community, a breakfast was hosted by Trinity United Church of Christ. Many people jumped in to sell tickets and offer their support and help. Items of food were donated by Roy Rogers, Food Lion, Jubilee of Emmitsburg, Dairy Maid Dairy, Frederick Produce, Feeser Foods of Harrisburg, Cozy Restaurant, Hoffman’s Food Market, Catoctin Mountain Orchard and Trinity Church. Nine hundred (900) breakfasts were served to persons from the entire Frederick County. Many personal monetary donations were also made totaling over $8,000. Combining that total with breakfast totals, an amount of approximately $15,000 (which is 100% of amount taken in) will be presented to Adam and Carrie. What tremendous caring and support from everyone!

Adam was with us at the breakfast the entire morning, greeting each person as they came through the food line. This made us very proud of this fine young man as he showed his appreciation. His attitude and dedication to his country is tremendous; our country is in the capable hands of young men such as he.

With as many people that attended it had to touch every church in the community and people from all walks of life. There have been many complimentary comments made to many of us concerning the fact that Trinity is willing to go the ""extra mile" in helping in our community. Words cannot possibly express the overwhelming gratitude we at Trinity have for our church family, our community of Thurmont and our neighboring areas. As a last thought, a BIG THANKS to all who extended themselves in any way to be of help. Time does not always allow a personal thank you, but your efforts are recognized and appreciated - it could not have been done without everyone’s help.
