Parishioners Celebrate 200th Anniversary of St. Anthony’s Shrine

On Saturday, November 19, parishioners celebrated the 200th Anniversary of St. Anthony’s shrine. The church known as St. Anthony Shrine dates from 1897, but the roots of the parish go much further back in time. The records of the Baltimore Archdiocese list St. Anthony Shrine as the oldest parish in central Maryland.   Full Story

The Battle of Monterey Pass

On the evening of July 4th, 1863, one of the most confusing battles of the Civil War occurred during the retreat from Gettysburg known as the battle of Monterey Pass. General Robert E. Lee had given the order to retreat from Gettysburg. During this retreat General Ewell’s Confederate wagon train took the road leading over Jack’s Mountain from Fairfield. Full Story

Five players were presented individual awards for their performance this season on the Catoctin High School varsity and junior varsity soccer team CHS JV soccer coach Wes Baugher awarded player John Wolf with the annual Coach’s Award and Ceth Parker with the season’s MVP award. Full Story
