The goal of The Catoctin Banner newspaper is to provide a friendly source of community news and information for residents in the communities of northern Frederick County while striving to promote a sense of community spirit and pride.  The Banner prides itself on local features about neighbors, businesses and organizations and quality news stories without controversy or bias.   

The Catoctin Banner was established in 1995 to meet a need for local news coverage for Thurmont, Maryland community.  Just a short few months later, the paper was expanded to include the neighboring communities of Sabillasville and Rocky Ridge.  Two years ago, the paper expanded into Emmitsburg completing its goal to serve all of northern Frederick County, Maryland. 

The Catoctin Banner is mailed monthly to all postal customers (residents and businesses alike) in the zip codes of 21788, 21778, 21780 and 21727.
