Maryland Symphony Orchestra Presents
 "The Magical Music of Disney"

(8/27) Music from early Disney animated classics to recent releases will take audiences on a musical journey to far off places when the Maryland Symphony Orchestra presents the "Magical Music of Disney" on Saturday, September 20, 7 p.m. at the historic Maryland Theatre in downtown Hagerstown.

"This isn’t just another orchestra concert, it’s a wonderful opportunity for families to spend an entertaining evening together and experience the magic and beauty of live symphonic music," says Michael Jonnes, the MSO’s executive director. Children (and adults) are welcome to come dressed as their favorite Disney character.

The "Magical Music of Disney" is truly a concert for the whole family. Audiences will enjoy a unique experience in which timeless stills and animated images are synchronized with music to transport them to their favorite Disney musical moment. These images will be projected on a large movie screen in front of the orchestra. "The focus is on the timeless music of the films, but the images bring the film to life," Jonnes states.

The concert will include music from the following films: Tarzan, The Little Mermaid, Hercules, Mary Poppins, Beauty and the Beast, The Rescuers Down Under, Aladdin, Mulan, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and The Lion King.

The symphonic arrangements from the archives at The Walt Disney Studios are provided by Disney Music Publishing. In the past three years this concert has been performed to over 70,000 people by 38 orchestras in 25 states and 9 countries.

Tickets may be purchased online; in person at 30 W. Washington Street, Hagerstown (Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.); or by calling 301-797-4000 during business hours.
