(11/7) Move over Scrooge, it's time for Jacob Marley to tell his story. The Village Dinner Theatre at Gettysburg is presenting Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol by Tom Mula for
the holiday season at Patriot Point Village according to producer Jason Hoffman. The show opens November 25 and runs through December 30.
Marley is dead, to begin with…dead as a doornail. Thus begins Charles Dickens’ classic story, A Christmas Carol, the source of countless adaptations and productions for stage
and screen.
But, suppose Marley is stuck between Heaven and Hell with one last chance for redemption?
Actor/playwright Tom Mula puts a different spin on the familiar Christmas tale. This time, Scrooge’s partner, Jacob Marley, tells the story of that fateful 24th of December
night. According to Mula, Jacob got a raw deal in the classic tale since Scrooge is redeemed while poor Marley stays in chains. The playwright thought this was very unfair so he wrote his version of
the story as told from Marley’s point of view.
Words and luminous dialogue, both dramatic and comic, are at the center of this invigorating production.
The Chicago Tribune called Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol "…among the best evenings of the theatrical year...an inspired and moving story that makes all that old stuff about
ghosts and graves seem both immediate and revelatory...a splendid and invigorating evening."
"Funny, moving, and hypnotic throughout..." according to The Chicago Sun-Times.
Enjoy this wonderful holiday show along with a delicious three-course meal. Reservations are required for evening shows starting at 7 PM on Fridays and Saturdays, as well as
matinees at 3 PM on December 16 and 23. The cost for adults is $29.50 and $26.50 for seniors, students, past and present military and folks in period clothing. Call 1-800-570-4590 for additional
