Historic Best Western Gettysburg Hotel Announces Charity Event

(11/5/2004) - The Historic Best Western Gettysburg Hotel today proudly announced plans for their first special holiday charity event, in which every dollar raised will benefit the Adams County Chapter of the American Cancer Society.

Key kids! Santa Claus is coming to town on Saturday, December 4, 2004. The Historic Gettysburg Hotel will host "Breakfast with Santa" in the Grande Ballroom from 7:30am – 11:30am. Bring your parents and enjoy a hot breakfast, complete with silver dollar pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, donuts, pastries and much more. All children will have the opportunity to meet Santa and have their picture taken free of charge, as well as receive a very special Christmas gift.

Cancer has touched the lives of several employees of the hotel and their families during the past year. Motivated by their personal experiences and concern for others, the Gettysburg Hotel staff has volunteered their time and efforts in fighting one of the nation’s number one illnesses, cancer. The ultimate goal of saving lives and total cancer control can only be accomplished through countless hours of research. It is in this area that the staff wants to help the American Cancer Society achieve this goal. Thus far in 2004, over 900 people in Adams County have benefited from the funds made available by the Society. It is important to also recognize those Companies who have donated food, supplies and gifts to the event helping to make this event a success.

We ask that you please join us in accomplishing our mission by coming to the Grand Ballroom on December 4th. The breakfast is free for children under three and adults are asked to make a small donation of five dollars (three dollars for children 4 – 8) to the society. If you are unable to attend the event, but would like to help us fight for those with cancer, your tax-deductible contribution can be made payable to the American Cancer Society, and mailed care of the Gettysburg Hotel. You may obtain further information by contacting the Historic Gettysburg Hotel at (717) 337-2000 or by email to santa@hotelgettysburg.com.
