Jennifer Charlton Enters Race for County Council Member at Large

A "servant’s heart" has led Jennifer Charlton (R) to enter the race for County Council Member at Large. Charlton resides in Woodsboro, MD with her husband of nearly 11 years, Gene Shuldes, and their son Ryan, 3.

Charlton is the current Executive Director of Mission of Mercy’s Maryland/Pennsylvania Program, a national organization dedicated to providing free primary medical and dental care and free medications to those in need via a mobile clinic. Charlton has a served and worked in a variety of roles: President of the Frederick County Commission for Women (FCCFW), Nominating Chair and member of The Weinberg Center for The Arts Board of Directors, and as a small business owner. Additionally, she has been a trainer of individual and organizational transformation methodologies in the mid-Atlantic region for an international training company and is a former Miss Maryland with the Miss America program.

Her current position with Mission of Mercy’s Maryland/Pennsylvania program, and her leadership of the FCCFW, afforded the opportunity to travel throughout Frederick County, building a network of relationships and giving her insight into the concerns and needs of the constituents. Her strong desire to serve stems from her values and her commitments to: (1) partner with the Frederick County delegation in Annapolis, (2) bring local government and nonprofit agencies together to serve those in need and (3) empower the next generation of Frederick County residents.

Her platform is simple and straightforward, like Charlton herself:

  • Efficient, Effective & Low Cost Government
  • Responsible Growth
  • Economic Expansion
  • Public Safety for All
  • Quality Education – Competitive Workforce

She brings her commitment to the entire County along with her attitude of listening, learning and being responsive. With a strong penchant for collaboration and strategic partnerships, Charlton’s goal is to work with others to create a smooth transition for the new Charter government while ensuring a brighter future for generations to come.
